Tekion is a workflow and communication platform for automotive retail dealerships. Tekion reporting is their flagship product. Reporting helps dealership owners and employees to view customer transactional data, 360 view of dealership operations. It takes daily snapshots of customer transaction data into visual reports to inform intelligent insights on risks, opportunities, and productivity goals.

The problem
After looking at the existing reporting process and with 1:1 interviews with automotive dealership retail employees, it was clear that the current state of the reporting process was fragmented. Dealership owners and employees faced many obstacles in their workflow. They were dependent on data analysts to login into 10 different CRMs to download data, consolidate and compile them using excel formulas. Data analysts complained that organizing, searching and analyzing right information in Excel was very tedious.  Also, depending on the task, they often find themselves jumping in and out of several environments, which is extremely painful, time consuming, and expensive.

The new solution centered around the role specific tasks that the employers and owners of the dealerships needed to perform, without the need for technical resources (such as IT, developers, and analysts). Easy-to-use data editor for quick slicing and dicing. 300+ pre-built metrics that users can add to their dashboard in one click. With this, there was increased collaboration between individuals and team members. Real-time data helped problems surface sooner, so users could solve them faster—no surprises in the end-of-month reports. Users are also able to schedule automated email reports for important metrics or dashboards.

Introducing tekion reporting and insights platform

Core features of this platform are Dashboard (Home), My Pinboard, and Shared Pinboard. The dashboard makes it easy to see all the essential reports & Insights and frequently used features in one place to help users navigate faster. It also shows meaningful visualizations for the user to glance at and understand reports more efficiently. Cards and panes are used to visibly show different data sets efficiently and their affordances. Wherever and whenever they are.

This product was designed and shipped within five months to 3 dealerships in Dublin, CA. Since its launch, it has increased adoption of the platform, and reduced the cost for dealerships by almost 45%.
